Root canals in León: saving the tooth before pulling it

A root canal saves a damaged or infected tooth: I remove the diseased nerve, clean and seal the canals, and the tooth stays in your mouth. It's done under local anesthesia and gets rid of the pain at its source. Often the tooth then needs a crown, which I make in my own lab.

Treatment options

What I can do for root canal treatment and when each option makes sense. At the assessment I tell you which one is for you.

  • Root canal

Treatment of the canals that keeps the tooth and stops the pain.

  • Crown after a root canal

Protects the treated tooth so it doesn't crack. Made in my lab.

  • Filling

When the damage is smaller, a tooth-colored filling may be enough.

How the treatment works

Step by step, so you know what to expect from the first visit.

  1. Diagnosis

I examine the tooth and tell you whether it can be saved and what it needs.

  2. Local anesthesia

    So the procedure is comfortable.

  3. Cleaning and sealing

I remove the damaged tissue, clean the canals and seal them.

  4. Restoration

I close the tooth with a filling or place a crown to protect it.

Questions about root canal treatment

Ask a question
How do I know if I need a root canal?

The most common signs are strong pain or pain that wakes you up, lingering sensitivity to cold or heat, pain when biting and swollen gums. Only an exam confirms it.

Does a root canal hurt?

It's done under local anesthesia. What hurts most is the infected tooth before treatment; the root canal is what takes that pain away.

Is a root canal better than pulling the tooth?

Whenever possible, keeping your own tooth beats replacing it. If it can't be saved, there are options like implants or prosthetics.

What comes after a root canal?

Usually the tooth is restored with a filling or a crown, especially molars, so it doesn't crack.

How much does a root canal cost?

It depends on the tooth and how many canals it has. I give you the price after the exam, before we start.
